Solar Panels in Kenya

Magna Solar supplies tier-1 monocrystalline and bifacial modules from TW Solar, rated between 440W and 610W. All three panels below are stocked at our Mlolongo warehouse and are sold either on their own or as part of a complete installed system.

What we stock

3 products, KES 9,900 to KES 13,800. Prices exclude installation.

How many panels you need

Panel count follows from the daily energy you need, not from the size of the roof. Nairobi and most of central Kenya receive roughly 5 to 6 peak sun hours a day, so a 440W panel produces in the region of 2.2 to 2.6 kWh on a clear day, less in the long rains and less again if the array is shaded for part of the morning or afternoon.

As a rough planning figure, a household drawing 10 kWh a day needs about 4 to 5 kW of panels once losses, battery round-trip efficiency and seasonal variation are accounted for. That is eight to twelve 440W panels, or six to eight 610W panels. A site survey replaces the estimate with a measured figure taken from your KPLC bill and your roof.

Monocrystalline and bifacial

All the panels we stock are monocrystalline. The 440W and 610W modules are additionally bifacial, meaning the rear face also generates from light reflected off the roof or ground beneath the array. The gain from the rear face depends entirely on mounting: a bifacial panel flat against a dark roof sheet behaves much like a standard module, while the same panel on a raised ground-mount over light-coloured ground picks up a useful additional yield.

If your array is going on a standard mabati roof, choose on rated power and price per watt rather than on the bifacial specification.

Warranty and delivery

Panels carry the manufacturer's product and performance warranty. Delivery within Nairobi is free; countrywide shipping is quoted per order and we deliver to all 47 counties.

Questions

What does a solar panel cost in Kenya?

Our panels run from KES 9,900 for a 440W bifacial module to KES 13,800 for a 610W bifacial module. That works out at roughly KES 22 per watt. Panels are one line item in a system: inverter, battery, mounting, cabling, protection and installation are separate.

Can I buy panels only, without installation?

Yes. Panels are sold on their own for collection at Mlolongo or for delivery. If you are not installing them yourself, note that EPRA requires licensed personnel for the electrical work.

Do bifacial panels produce more?

Only where the mounting lets light reach the rear face. On a raised ground-mount over light ground the gain is real; flat against a dark roof it is marginal.
