What we install in Mombasa

Local conditions that change the design

The coast is a different engineering problem from the interior, and the difference is corrosion. Salt-laden air attacks mounting structures, fasteners and enclosure seals far faster than it does upcountry, and a mounting system that lasts twenty years in Nakuru can be visibly degraded on the coast in a fraction of that. Coastal installations need appropriately rated structures and fixings, sealed enclosures and a maintenance interval that reflects the environment.

Ambient temperature also matters more here. Panel output falls as cell temperature rises, so coastal arrays benefit disproportionately from mounting that leaves an air gap under the modules rather than fixing them tight to the roof sheet.

How a job runs

A survey establishes consumption from your KPLC bills, measures the roof or ground area available and identifies shading through the day. From that we issue a specification and a fixed quote. On acceptance, a residential installation is typically three to five working days on site, ending with commissioning, testing and handover documentation. Grid-connected systems seeking net metering carry a longer administrative process with KPLC after commissioning.
